Glossary

action button
In any Stage Map, an icon backed by an orange oval that represents a part in the Personic WebBench hiring process. Clicking an action button moves you to that part of the application.

Browse button
Button next to certain fields that, when clicked, produces a list of choices from which to fill, or populate, the field.

form
A page containing fields in which to enter information to create a record, such as a Pending requisition or Offer request. A yellow-highlighted "M" next to a field designates it as a mandatory field.

Interview
A stage at which reviewed candidates can be interviewed and you can review and act on feedback.

log off
To close or exit the program. Clicking the Log Off button at the bottom of the WebBench Main page closes your session.

log on
To open or start the program. Log on by typing a user ID and password on the Log On page and click the Log On button.

Log On page
A page on which you open (log on to) Personic WebBench. The Log On page contains the Personic WebBench icon, the User ID and the Password fields, and the Log On and Change Password buttons. This is the first page to appear when you direct your browser to Personic WebBench.

Main page
The first page of each stage and module. This "top" page appears when you click the tab for that stage or module.

Manager Review
A stage at which attached resumes become available to you for review. You can schedule candidate interviews here.

Manager's To Do List
Table at the top of the WebBench Main page, bearing the words "Welcome to Personic WebBench" and the user's name. Displays a count of all records that need attention or are overdue for action for each stage in the hiring process.

mandatory field
In any new record (requisition, interview, or offer), a field with a yellow-highlighted "M" beside it. Every mandatory field must be filled in before you can save the record.

Message Marquee
On the WebBench Main page, table beneath The Manager's To Do List. Displays systemwide messages posted by your system administrator. Messages here are read-only (you may not edit them).

module
One of four sections of the database. These sections--Candidate, Recruiter, Manager, and Department-- are so divided to categorize information in the database logically. The modules in Personic WebBench correspond to the four main modules in Personic Workflow.

Both modules and stages are accessible by one of the nine tabs along the left side of the Personic WebBench window. Modules differ from stages in that modules divide data, stages divide functions.

navigation button
Blue-and-yellow buttons containing an arrow that you can click to move through a list or from topic to topic in Personic WebBench Help. The four navigation buttons appear at the bottom of lists in Personic WebBench and at the top and bottom of pages in Help.

Needs Attention
Status of a record--requisition, resume, interview, or offer--that has been inactive for a given number of days as set by the system administrator. Such records are noted in the total of the Needs Attention column in the Message Marquee on the WebBench Main page. Records of this status have been inactive for a shorter period than Overdue records.

Offer
A stage at which you can create offers to candidates who have been interviewed.

offer request
"Pending" offer you have created and submitted for approval.

Overdue
Status of a record--requisition, resume, interview, or offer--that has been in Needs Attention status for a given number of days as set by the system administrator. Overdue records are those that have been inactive longer than Needs Attention records by the set number of days. Such records are noted in the total in the Overdue column in the Message Marquee on the WebBench Main page.

page
A single screen in Personic WebBench. Each page has the nine tabs along its left side.

password
A word or phrase that you type in the Password field on the Log On page to gain access to your Personic WebBench session. Passwords can be up to 10 characters long and contain letters or numbers. They are not case sensitive.

Requisition
A stage at which you can create a requisition for a position and submit it for approval.

stage
One of four main steps of the hiring process. Each of the four stages--Requisition, Manager Review, Interview, and Offer--is represented by a tab along the left side of the application window.

Both stages and modules are accessible by one of the nine tabs along the left side of the Personic WebBench window. Stages differ from modules in that stages divide functions, modules divide data.

Stage Map
Flow chart containing icons and action buttons representing the various steps in the hiring process. A Stage Map appears on the Main page of each of the four stages.

tab
Button along the left side of the Personic WebBench application window. These nine buttons "stick out" from the pages and correspond to the nine Main pages (including the WebBench Main page).

text link
Highlighted text you can click to move to a list of records or a page of a single record. Text links contain colored text, where nonlinking text (that for which clicking produces no effect) is blue.

In Personic WebBench Help, clicking a text link takes you to the page containing procedures for and/or a description of that topic.

time out
Personic WebBench function of shutting off after 15 minutes of inactivity.

URL
The text you type or paste into your browser's Address (Location) field to go to a particular Web page, such as the Personic WebBench Log On page. Stands for Uniform Resource Locator.

WebBench Main page
First, or "top," page in the Personic WebBench application window. Accessible from anywhere in the application by clicking the WebBench Main, or "top," tab along the left side of the application window. This page contains The Manager's To Do List, the Message Marquee, and the log off button.

"Yellow Brick Road"
In a list, the yellow-and-orange-highlighted column that shows the most common next action to take in the hiring process.
