How to review a bridge hand using the Bridge Applet.

Three states or modes in the applet:-
Bidding state- You can play the recorded
bidding sequence
Play recorded hand state- You can play the
recorded hand playing sequence
Play the hand yourself- You can try to play
the hand yourself and see how many tricks you can get or
try to solve the quiz.
All buttons are highlight in black when enabled. This
means the software is accepting a clik on those buttons.
All buttons are dim if they are disable and the software
is not responding to any click on those buttons.
Action buttons act on the state you are in
only and does not affect the other state. (e.g. if you
are in playing recorded hand RESET button only reset the
recorded hand and not the hand you play yourself or the
bidding sequence. )
Non action buttons works for all states (e.g.
question, answers, bid info and help. )
You can switch and select any other mode by
clicking the corresponding button in the left side of the
second row 'bidding' 'play recorded hand' ' play hand
yourself'.
It takes about 30 to 45 seconds to download
the applet on a 28.8 line. It takes another 5 to 10
seconds to display the applet. Going to another hand will
be very fast (1 to 5 sec).
Controls for playing recorded bidding
sequence:-
The button on the first row works like your
CD/VCR.
You can view the bidding in a movie like
presentation by clicking the 'PLAY' button.
The speed selection bar is at the right of
the first row. Move it to the right will speed up the
play.
'STOP' button will stop the movie mode so
that you can use other action buttons.
'RESET' button will return to the beginning
of the bidding sequence.
'BACK' button will go backwards one step by
one bid.
'NEXT' button will go foreword one step by
one bid.
'END' button will go to the end of the movie,
complete the recorded bidding sequence.
More bidding information may be stored under the 'bid
info' button.
Controls for playing recorded hand sequence:-
The button on the first row works like your

If some of the hands are hidden (you cannot
see the four suits) they are hidden because the author of
the quiz do not want you to see them before you answer
the questions. You can show those hand by clicking the
mouse at the top of the hand where the name is display.

'RESET' button will return to the beginning
of the play of the hand sequence.
'BACK' button will go backwards one step by
one card.
'NEXT' button will go foreword one step by
one card.
'END' button will go to the end of the movie,

Controls for playing the hand yourself:-
The trump suit and the hand who is the leader
is set to the default values of the recorded bidding of
the hand. You can change them if you want to. This is
allowed when you are at the beginning of the play only
(RESET).
You can click the 'club' 'diamond' 'heart'
'spade' 'no trump' button in the third row to change the
suit for the trump.
You can click the 'north' 'south' 'east'
'west' button in the third row to change the leader of
the hand.
Select the card you want to play and click it
with the mouse. The program will prevent you from playing
a card from the wrong hand or not follow suit. If the
program accepts your play of the card it will change it
to be shown with a red background. All cards play in the
current round have a white background.
'RESET' button will return to the beginning
of the play of the hand .
'BACK' button will go backwards one step by
one card.
Controls for quiz:-
The question for the quiz is either in the
text of the web page or you can click the 'question'
button to show the question window.
The answer is either 'yes' or 'no' or a
selection from '#1' '#2' '#3' '#4'. When you use the
mouse and click the answer a window will display the
result. The button you can select are
highlighted and the one that is not used are dim.
When you are viewing a quiz the author may
hide some hands and also may display part of the bidding
sequence in the beginning of the view. This is to provide
you only with the information the author want you to have
to answer the question.
Controls for viewing another hand:-
'NEXT HAND' and 'NEXT TABLE' button will be
enable if there are more bridge hands for you to view.
Just click the button and they will be display.
