Meadowlark Bridge and the Hand Librarian:-:
An invaluable teaching aid:-Meadowlark Bridge allows you to load any set of hands you have
created with the Hand Librarian for bidding and play. Meadowlark Bridge's flexible bidding
system lets you explore with your student the bidding of a hand. Show them how conventions
can alter the path of the bidding by retracting a bid, changing a convention, and letting
the computer bid again. Meadowlark Bridge gives reasons for the bids it makes and the
cards it plays.

Description of conventions, bidding, and play of the hand:-Let's Play Bridge Selecting
your conventions First you choose from the numerous bidding conventions offered by
Meadowlark Bridge. You choose your own conventions and then those of your opponents. Use
the Conventions Dialog box to make your selections.Bidding the hands You play South while
bidding the hand. A question mark appears in the South column when it is your turn to bid.
As the bidding progresses messages appear in the area that now reads "Bidding
completed." These messages allow you to see why Meadowlark Bridge makes its bids. For
example, when East made its 2 Heart bid the box would show "Weak Two." Play of
the Hand Meadowlark Bridge features: an advanced interface for playing the cards.
Either the mouse or the keyboard can be used to select cards to play. easy help. By
pressing the right mouse button you will get a recommendation for a card to play and a
reason for making that play. a high speed of play. Many bridge programs will tip you
off to the card count by the time the program takes to play a card. A singleton plays so
quickly that you know that if the program pauses to play and follows suit you know it has
at least one more card of that suit. This is not true in Meadowlark Bridge. Play is so
rapid that you cannot make such an inference based on speed of play.

The current version 1.0 of the software :-
1. The software requires an Intel or compatible computer running Window95 or NT.
2. The hand generating engine produces about 250,000 hands a minute on a slow 486 33MHz machine.
3. User can specify conditions for the north (sit) and the south(2nd) hand.
4a. There are about 20 predefined standard American openings (e.g. NT with 5 card majors, NT with no 5 card majors), and my own "5 card minor system". All openings can specify any range or multiple ranges of HCP of the hand (e.g. 1NT to have 11-13 and/or 15-17 HCP).
4b. User can define up to 8 combinations of scripts on the conditions of the hand. This enable the user to define some very complicated openings.

7. User can set the number of hands to be found that satisfy the conditions.
8. About 10 statistical parameters are display when the program is running and is updated every 10 seconds.
9. User can abort or stop the program anytime. The program will stop within 10 seconds and results will be presented (with less hands generated then user specify).
10. About 8 pages using small print fonts of results on display or for the printer(must support small font and have enough memory to print a complicated page). Many statistical results.and 42 hands printed on the last page.If your printer does not have enough memory it will not finish printing the last page and you will get to see less than 42 hands.
